Goldland Baptist Church was conceived and organized in answer to the call of a few old and new converts who were in search of a church that is Bible-based in doctrine and practice.
It all started when on February 14, 2006, Mrs. Leda Hudtohan and Mrs. Annilou Hilario came to Pastor Al S. Serran with a request for him to start holding a worship service at his residence because those who accepted Christ as their personal Savior and Lord as well as those who were nurtured in the knowledge of the truth through his ministry had been looking for a church to belong.
Initially, Pastor Al S. Serran was hesitant to grant the request simply because he had been working on his papers for the States; and while doing so, he served as a pulpit supply in one of the Convention Baptist churches here in Bacolod City. For the same cause, he turned down invitations to be a church pastor twice.
But God in His supreme power intervened. Going abroad was not in accordance with God’s plan for Pastor Al S. Serran; and so it was that on February 19, 2006, the 1st worship service was held at the garage of their house in Goldland Village, Taculing, Bacolod City. Forty two came to attend with their offering that amounted to 14,750 Php. The worship service at the garage continued for two months; and soon, the venue became too small to accommodate the church goers that the need for more space was called for. Hence, on the Easter Sunday of 2006, God provided for the much needed place at the 2nd floor of the Cineplex Bldg., Araneta St., Bacolod City.
Since the payment arrangement with the building administration was on an hourly basis, not all of the church activities were held there. Instead, God prepared the canteen of Mrs. Hannah Milabo at Boyscout compound, Lacson to serve for the purpose. For three years, the afternoon meeting, choir practice and prayer meeting were held there.
Again, as a growing church, a few concerns surfaced but God turned them all into a blessing which led Goldland Baptist Church to where it is now – a bigger and more private address at 2nd floor of Goodwill Building.
Why Goldland Baptist Church? Simply because it is the name of the subdivision where the Church was founded and because we are looking forward to that “Goldland” God has prepared for us.
Our prayer will always be for God to find Goldland Baptist Church faithful from start to the end!
